UUM ONLINE: In a bid to provide students with exposure in the field of diplomatic and international affairs, the School of International Studies (SoIS) through its Asian Institute of International Affairs and Diplomacy (AIIAD) organized a knowledge sharing session called Career Development Talk at the SoIS Auditorium recently.
The knowledge-sharing session was organized in conjunction with the Diploma in Diplomacy (DID) programme, a programme which was jointly organised by SoIS and the Institute of Diplomacy & Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme which involved 16 Administrative and Diplomatic Officers (PTDs) and four liaison officers from IDFR was led by its Director General, Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany.
"IDFR is an international training and research centre in the field of diplomatic and international relations. Today's session is aimed at sharing knowledge on diplomacy and international relations in hopes of preparing students who wish to embark on diplomatic careers," said Datuk Muhammad Sadik Kethergany in his speech.
Four PTDs namely Mr. Muhammad Muhaimin Rasidi, Ms. Syarifah Jamiatul Amira Syed Mansor, Ms. Ms. Sarah Zahira Ruhama shared their knowledge and working experiences in the field of diplomacy and international relations with UUM students who attended the programme.
Ms. Syarifah Jamiatul Amira said students must have high self-esteem as a diplomatic officer because the workload of a diplomatic officer can be very challenging at times and also unpredictable.
Meanwhile, Ms. Farah Syafina Bahari said that individuals wanting to join IDFR should read extensively and take note of current issues especially issues pertaining to Malaysia foreign policies.
Students who attended the programme were also enlightened on the ways to join IDFR. Also present at the event was the Director of AIIAD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Muda.
