The National Parents' Day Celebration 2018 Showcases The Therapeutic Expressive Arts Inspiration For Mom And Dad
UUM ONLINE: Perlis, 26 June - The National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have jointly collaborated to showcase the Expressive Arts Inspiration for Mom & Dad record for The Malaysia Book of Records using the Art Therapy approach in conjunction with the National Level Parents' Day Celebration 2018. The event was held at Dewan Wawasan 2020, Kangar.
The co-ordinator of the Malaysia Book of Records LPPKN-UUM, Dr. Azizah Abdullah said, the activity was inspired through the collaboration of the 1 + 3 research project involving UUM, LPPKN, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS) as well as other activities organised through the Knowledge Transfer Programme 2017` KPT-UUM-MAINS.
"Highlighting the theme, 'Parents - Our Greatest Gifts' - the event carved its own history when a total of 1,500 paintings were collected within two months by the participants which includes UUM student volunteers, UUM staff members from PERPATI, KESKA and also various departments at UUM.
"In addition, this activity also received some assistance from the local community including the Ministry of Women, Family & Community Development (KPWKM)," said Dr. Azizah.
The National Parents’ Day Celebration was officiated by His Majesty Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, Tuanku Raja Perlis. Also present at the event was the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the Women, Family and Community Development Minister.
