UUM ONLINE: 11 April - The Cliff House, an animated short film won the coveted “Best of The Best” award at AYIFF'18 Gala Night. The highly-anticipated event was held at Mu’adzam Shah Hall yesterday.
The film, which was produced by a group of Multimedia University students (MMU) - Wong Jin Yao, Tan Lin Haur, Woon Chee Khai and Kong Wei Cheng also won the Best Animation Award.
UUM Pro-Chancellor, Her Highness Yang Teramat Mulia Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah has graciously consented to present the award to the winners.
The Cliff House is an animated short film that was originally produced as the final year graduation project and the production of the film took a whole year before it was launched on the Youtube.
The Cliff House tells the story of an old man who is determined to build a tower to accomplish his dreams. The animated film has received numerous local and international recognitions and it was also screened in Australia under the Commonwealth Stories.
The Best Public Service Announcement (PSA) category went to Universiti Malaysia Perlis for their work on ‘Fake Cosmetic’; Best Music Video award went to KDU University College Penang for their music video entitled ‘King’; the Best Narrative went to ‘Falasi’ by Koyak Tiket Films Production; Best Documentary went to Universiti Malaysia Sarawak with ‘Di Sebalik Orang Hijau’ and the Promising Young Minds award went to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tok Janggut, Kelantan for their work entitled ‘Jiran’.
The Jury Special Award went to Tindak - The Office Circle (MTask Production); Evergreen Icon went to Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Ahmad Nawab. Meanwhile, for the Young Generation Icon award, the award for the actor category went to Sabri Yunus and the Director category went to Mamat Khalid.
In addition, AYIFF also presented four Honourable Mention Awards to four films i.e. Katong Gabii, Senyum, Aksara Di Sebalik Sampah and Hati Lelaki.
