UUM ONLINE: #KIT - Keeping in Touch with the Student Leaders in the Northern Region served as a platform to solve the present-day problems that inundate the students at institutions of higher education.
Attended by more than 3,000 students in the Northern Region, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, the Minister of Higher Education entertained a range of questions affecting students at the universities, polytechnics and also community colleges.
During the two-hour session, Dato’ Seri Idris answered the questions and explained problems posed by the students, including unemployment issues in the precipice of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), graduates marketability, the Gap Year option and the 1Malaysia Student Discount Card (KADS1M).
"The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has created various initiatives for student development without emulating any of the world's leading universities, for instance the implementation of iCGPA (Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average) and 2U2i (Two University Two Industry).
"These initiatives have ignited the interests of other international universities who are certainly intrigue to know the success of the initiatives," remarked Dato’ Seri Idris.
The Minister of Higher Education also enlightened the audience with the success story and achievements of MoHE and other public universities at the national and also international levels.
Among the institutions involved in this event were UUM, USM, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah International Islamic University (UniSHAMS), polytechnics and community colleges.
In attendance were the Secretary General of MoHE, Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur and UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, along with senior officers of MoHE, UUM and institutions of higher education in the Northern Region.
