UUM Becomes The First University To Establish Collaborative Partnership With University In New Cairo, Egypt

UUM ONLINE: 8 March - UUM is the first in the country to embark on collaborative ventures with university in New Cairo, Egypt by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Future University in Egypt (FUE).

The MoU was signed by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak and FUE Advisory Board, Dr. Hanan Khalifa at Sri Mersawa, EDC Hotels & Resorts, this morning.

In pursuance of this MoU, both parties will offer PhD programmes, student and staff exchange programmes, research and consultation, publication and exchange of academic materials as well as promoting UUM study programmes in the Arab countries.

The signing of the MoU ensued from the official visit by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim and the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COLGIS, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani to New Cairo, Egypt in December 2017.

For a start, UUM and FUE will offer PhD programmes under the School of International Studies (SoIS) to local lecturers and officials in New Cairo, Egypt.

In addition, this strategic partnership will increase the number of international students and it will indirectly increase the university income. This MoU also presents the opportunity for the academic staff especially at SoIS to collaborate with the academic staff members at FEU in publication and research activities through the matching grant projects.

Besides that, Dr. Hanan Khalifa, who is also a representative of the Cambridge English Assessment, UK held a discussion with the School of Languages, Civilisation and Philosophy (SLCP). Both parties discussed on matters related to the organisation of research activities and workshop or courses related to the English language testing and assessment.

This collaborative venture will be the first step towards making SLCP the center of reference for English language testing and evaluation.
