UUM ONLINE: Putrajaya – UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak presented the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) initiatives to Redesign the Higher Education landscape at the Post-Cabinet Meeting of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) recently.
The Post-Cabinet Meeting was chaired by the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh.
During the session, Prof. Dato' Seri Vice-Chancellor presented seven (7) initiatives to redesign the higher education landscape that have been and are being implemented by UUM specifically the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), Smart Classroom, PPRN (Public-Private Research Network), iCGPA (Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average) system, CEO @ Faculty programme, Gap Year as well as Income Generation & Endowment.
These seven initiatives are in keeping with UUM's Strategic Planning for 2016-2020 while five (5) other initiatives, specifically the 2u2i (Two Universities + Two Industries) programme, translational research, cashless campus, Waqf (an endowment for charitable cause) and APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) are some projects in the pipeline this year.
The Vice-Chancellor also presented the results of the PPRN projects implemented in UUM for instance, the commercialisation of KINASIH products, Utara Spice, Kukur mushroom (Split Gill mushroom) cultivation project and The Manager’s Coffee outlets.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, YB Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching; Secretary-General of Ministry of Higher Education, Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur; Deputy Secretary-General (Management) Ministry of Higher Education, Dato' Kamel Mohamed; Director-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Datin Paduka Dr. Hamisah Tapsir and senior officers of MOHE.
