As in the previous years, UUM continues with the practice of sacrificing animals (Qurban), in accordance with the proper Islamic religious rites during Aidiladha. The observance of the Qurban and Aqiqah Rites for the year 1437H was carried out after the congregational AidilAdha prayer at the Sultan Badlishah Mosque this morning.
In attendance during the religious event were UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak and spouse, Datin Seri Norhayati Nazri.
At the event, a total of 12 cows and 11 goats were sacrificed. The meat of the Aqiqah and Qurban animals were then distributed to the local community.
Aidiladha falls on the 10th. day of Zulhijjah and the Qurban rites is performed right after the Aidiladha prayer until before the sunset on the last day of Tashriq, on 13 Zulhijjah.
Earlier on, Dato' Seri Vice-Chancellor and Datin Seri Norhayati joined fellow Muslims to perform Aidiladha prayer at the Sultan Badlishah Mosque.
Also present at the event were the Director of the Chancellery, Mr. Ahmad Rasidi Abdullah; Director of the Islamic Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Ishak and university officers.
