The two-day conference was the joint effort of the city campus of Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (UUMKL) with the State Government of Malacca. A total of 70 participants from nine countries took part in the conference.
Reading the speech of the Vice-Chancellor, UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali said, the theme of ICMC 2016, ‘Management of Integrity and Governance for Global Sustainability’, seeks to delve into relevant issues pertaining to systematic, principled, transparent and sustainable practices in management and governance in the corporate and government sectors.
The ICMC 2016 presents the avenue for participants to deliberate on the various aspects of management integrity and governance. For that reason, academic staff members should take this opportunity to nurture and promote cross-cultural and cross-institutional collaborations in research without side-lining their contemporaries from other institutions or educational establishments.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali further added that, current demands in the work environment including the lifestyle changes, challenges in socio-economic and political agenda, issues related to cultural integration, transformations in organizational systems, corporate restructuring, reformation in business and management are among the leading causes that contributed to socio-cultural pressures on the roles of communication and media.
“Besides that, rapid transformation in the communication, media and digital technology landscape in the millennium through the globalization process does not only shape the social structure of organizations but it also affected our way of thinking. Thus, I sincerely hope that this conference will offer great networking opportunities and at the same time present the avenue for future collaborative efforts in the areas of management and communication, said Prof. Dr. Hassan Ali.
