The award was announced by Chairman of GIFA, Prof Humayun Dar.
According to Prof. Dar, although competition was very fierce this year compared to the previous years, GIFA ultimately chose IBS over others.
Among the criteria assessed by GIFA were IBS-UUM recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, its visiting lecturers, the international students, achievements made through international research collaboration, seminars and number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed with international counterparts.
The win signalled the second time IBS-UUM impressed the panels at GIFA. This win came after IBS-UUM received the "Best Islamic Finance Qualification" title through its Bachelor of Islamic Finance and Banking Programme (BIFB) in 2013.
The presentation of GIFA Awards 2016 will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 29th September and winners can expect to receive their awards from the Indonesian President himself.
