The appreciation dinner was held to celebrate the students who successfully completed their studies for one year at the UUM Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, in addition to strengthening relationships with their lecturers.
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said the Foundation Studies in Management programme at UUM, which was established in 2014, would be able to produce human capital with high intellectual capability level at a young age to cater for critical programmes in UUM.
"When the applicants submitted their applications for entry into bachelor’s degree programmes in Malaysian public universities via Unit Pusat Universiti (UPUOnline), there is often an imbalance in the admission of students into critical courses. It is therefore, the Foundation Studies in Management programme at UUM was established to solve the problem".
"In this context, all of you are the most fortunate students to have been chosen to be the feeder to a number of critical programmes offered at the undergraduate level at UUM namely the Bachelor of Philosophy, Law and Business (Hons) [BPLB (Hons)], the Bachelor of Law-LLB (Hons) [Llb (Hons)], the Bachelor of Accounting with Honours [BAcct (Hons)], Bachelor of Finance and Islamic Banking with Honours [BIFB (Hons)] and the Bachelor of Finance with Honours [BFin (Hons.), "he said.
In this regard, he expressed his hope that the students of the Foundation Studies in Management programme, who will pursue their studies in bachelor’s degree programmes September 2016 intake, to make a wise choice in selecting the courses offered including the critical courses.
Meanwhile, Director of the UUM Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak Yaakub made a remark in his congratulatory speech to the students who successfully completed their courses with distinction.
"On behalf of the Foundation Studies in Management Centre and the teaching members of staff, I wish you good luck in your studies and your career in the future. It is our hope to see the cream of crop of the Foundation Studies in Management Centre will appear as the first class students in your undergraduate studies," he said.
In addition, the appreciation dinner for the Foundation Studies in Management students also saw several awards were presented to outstanding students including the Outstanding Academic Student Award, Student Figure Award, Charity Award, The Most Dedicated Student Award and certificate presentation for Semester 2 Director’s Award.
Also present at the event were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof Dr. Hassan Ali; Deputy Director (Academic) Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, Assoc Prof Dr. Munif Zarirruddin Fikri Nordin; Deputy Director (Student Development), Centre for Foundation Studies in Management, Assoc Prof Md Zahir Mat Cha and UUM officials.
