UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said among the great successes achieved by the university at the international level were the AUN-QA certification and the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, thus strengthening UUM’s position in the world ranking.
"The recognition or accreditation received is very important not only to make UUM well-known, but as a platform to attract more excellent students and academics from abroad to study and join UUM.
"I hope the campus community can understand the purpose of the University’s pursuance of ratings and international recognition which is to position UUM at the highest positions not only within the country but also in the world and this is also a branding for UUM to continue to be recognised on the international stage," he said.
At the ceremony, he presented the AUN-QA certificates to fellow recipients who comprised of representative of the Dean of the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), Deputy Dean of the School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS), Deputy Dean of the School of Applied Psychology, Policy and Social Work (SAPSP) and Dean of the School of Government (SOG).
In addition, 30 representatives of various Centres of Authority (CoA) also received the AUN-QA Certificate of Appreciation and the UI GreenMetric Certificate of Appreciation from the Vice-Chancellor.
Meanwhile, Director of the Institute of Quality Management (IQM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah said both the successes obtained were anchored on the seriousness of the Vice-Chancellor for giving his continued support towards the UUM community to achieve as many recognition for its academic programmes as possible both at regional and international level and strengthen the UUM brand through rankings from international bodies.
He said five UUM academic programmes had achieved remarkable successes with the AUN-QA certification recognition and expressed his hope that the campus community would increase their efforts to improve the university in order for the University to continuously excel from time to time.
"We are at a juncture which is well suited to continuously drive the University’s agenda with the support of the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management Committee.
"We have also successfully raised the University’s agenda whereby we now call our University, ‘University In Green Forest' and is successfully listed at our first attempt at the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking," he said.
Also present were UUM CAS Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Norshuhada Shiratuddin, Deans, representatives of the respective Centres of Authority and UUM officials.
