Organised by the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), the session aims to introduce students to the computer giant Dell, as well as to inform the students of the opportunity they have to undergo practical training at the company.
The Director of CUIC, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Sobri Don @ A. Wahab expressed his gratitude for the interest demonstrated by the people at Dell in relation to collaborating with UUM especially in activities involving students.
"This is not the first collaboration Dell has had with UUM. Last year UUM students visited the Dell Global Business Centre Sdn Bhd.
"I hope that such cooperation will continue and more collaboration such as this can be conducted in the future. I fervently hope that the students who are involved will take the opportunity to showcase their talents not only during Q and A session alone," he said.
The students who participated in the Dell-UUM Networking Session were selected based on their academic achievement. These students were then given a briefing on the background of Dell Global Procurement as well as Global Supply Chain Planning. They were then divided into several groups.
The delegation from Dell was led by its Senior Manager, Dell Demand Supply, Mr. William Heng who was also taken on a campus tour to the Welcome Centre and a courtesy visit to the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).
Also present were the Dean of Student Development and Alumni (PPA), UUM College of Business (COB), Dr. Hendrik Lamsali and UUM officials.
