The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Assoc. Prof. Dr Abdul Malek Abdul Karim, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, signed the memorandum, while UNIKAMA was represented by its Rector, Dr Pieter Sahertian and present to witness the event were the Dean of SOA, Prof. Dr. Kamil Md Idris and the Pro-Chancellor of UNIKAMA, Dr Christea Frisdiantara.
In his speech Assoc. Prof Dr Abdul Malek expressed his confidence that the MoU will further boost the activities that have been carried out before.
He also reiterated that the signing of the MoU is very significant for both universities as they work towards strengthening the position or ranking of their respective universities at the international level, even for UUM.
"One of the criteria required to improve the rankings of a university is the ability to collaborate with other universities especially with universities from abroad.
"Therefore, I hope that the cooperation established between UNIKAMA and SoA will not just continue through the various programmes planned, but the relations between Malaysia and Indonesia can further be enhanced," he said.
Meanwhile, UNIKAMA Rector, Dr Pieter Sahertian said that the MoU between the two universities is indeed an honour to UNIKAMA as it would be in working relations with a university of world renowned stature.
According to him, UNIKAMA has been waiting eagerly to sign the MoU after collaborating in various joint programmes for two years with UUM, SoA in particular.
"Within the two years of working together, we have paid a courtesy visit to UUM, organised student visits and invited UUM academics to give talks.
"I fervently hope that this MoU will not just end here, instead more joint researches can be organised and more UUM professors will be invited to become Visiting Professors at UNIKAMA," he said.
