"As I shared knowledge with my friends through discussion, it indirectly helped me to better master the subject and ultimately it helped me perform better in my studies,” said the Royal Education Award recipient at 28th Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Convocation, at the Mu'adzam Shah Hall, yesterday morning.
Aside from her busy schedule as Proton Student Residential Hall Academic Exco, she never ceased to help out by providing free tutoring services for subjects namely Mathematics, Statistics and the English Language to those who were in need of tutoring.
The graduate of the Bachelor of Tourism Management, who is second of five siblings often represented her Student Residential Hall for sports tournaments namely, handball, basketball and netball.
Although actively involved in co-curricular activities, the Penang-born lass, never lost sight of her goals and continued to maintain her momentum of academic excellence when she was awarded with the Dean’s Award for every semester throughout the duration of her studies in UUM. She was also awarded the Best Student at the “Anugerah Kerana Jasa UUM 2014”.
As part of her study routine, she also set up a study group as she believes that the different perspectives offered by each member of the group helps to contribute to the better understanding of the subject matter. She also reiterated on the importance of revising before and after attending classes.
Ms Farzana Zulkifli holds fast to the belief that Allah will facilitate the path to success when one prays, keeps the company of good people, shares and contributes knowledge and other worldly things as well as obeys one’s parents.
Commenting on her success, she was indeed very touched by the recognition given to her and lauded the constant support she received from both her beloved parents and lecturers.
“I thank Allah The Almighty for these recognition and awards which I never in my wildest dreams expected to receive. I never knew such awards (The Chancellor’s Gold Medal and Alumni Book Award) existed and I recommend that the student who enrolled into UUM as first year students to work hard that they too have the opportunity to be rewarded with such recognition and awards.
Currently Ms. Farzana Zulkifli works at the PG Gold Museum, Malaysia’s first gold museum in Georgetown, Penang overseeing the company’s management and regulation aspects.
At the same event, Mr. Yap Wei Huan, 24, a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Management (Logistics and Transport) programme, too, was awarded with the Royal Education Award. Meanwhile Ms. Nurul Hasanah Mat Isa, 24, a graduate of the Bachelor of Public Administration was awarded with the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
Also accepting his degree, was the Deputy Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulaziz A Alomar who was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Finance and Banking).
This year witnessed the pioneer graduates of the Master of Science (Multimedia Studies) and Master of Science (Mathematics) become part of the 6,709 graduands who completed their studies.
Meanwhile, 602 graduates were selected to receive the 21 awards namely the Royal Education Award, the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Award and Bank Rakyat Award.
