He further elucidated that efforts should be made continuously to form national unity through education. He also warned that the misuse of the social media could lead to disharmony in the country. Malaysian diversity of race, religion and culture had to be safeguarded.
"After 58 years of independence, Malaysia has made remarkable progress and attained numerous local and international recognitions in various fields such as in economy and education.
Besides, the unity and solidarity amongst Malaysians become one of the most important components in the national education agenda. I believe that education aspires to shape attitudes and values for national integration.
In view of that, I fervently hope that each of UUM students will take their university education seriously and put more efforts to develop their skills thus improving their employment opportunities," he said.
Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak in his welcoming speech said that such event provides an opportunity for the students to interact directly with the government leaders on imperative issues.
Also present at the event were Members of the University Management Committee and UUM officials.
