UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said, the event was held not just to celebrate Aidilfitri and foster Silaturahim but more importantly, to instil the spirit of caring and sharing the festive cheer with the less fortunate.
Dato’ Vice-Chancellor also hoped that all fellow professors will continue to plan and organise activities to help the less fortunate, especially those living in the area of UUM campus.
He added that the professor's role is crucial not only to the academic milieu and the development of the university but also as the country’s “think tank” that will share their views and recommendations with the governments, especially in formulating the national development policies.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the UUM Council of Professors, Prof. Dr Abd Razak Yaakub said, this event is part of the Council of Professors’ mutual responsibility to the orphans.
“Alhamdulillah, the event went well and we are certainly happy to share the festive joys with those in need. I would like to express my sincere congratulations to Dato’ Wira on being honoured by CMO Asia with the Education Leadership Award under the Asia’s Best Employer Brand Awards 2015 category. The 6th Asia's Education Excellence Award ceremony was held at the Pan Pacific, Marina Square, Singapore recently,” he added.
The orphans were alsopresented with “duit raya” (money packets or raya money packets) by the members of the UUM Council of Professors.
