UUM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)with the University of Leeds and an official visit was also made to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said the bilateral collaborations between UUM and the University of Leeds can be traced back to 2011 and both universities have made binding commitment to further induce the academic partnership to an even higher levels of cooperation.
"During the meeting, discussions were initiated concerning the prospect of collaborative partnerships in post doctoral programme, research fellowship between both universities and also the introduction of a special research model for UUM staff at the Master’s level including developing collaborative academic partnership with Leeds Business School specifically for the Executive Programme,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, Sir Alan Langland expressed his sincere happiness at the opportunity to foster academic collaborative partnership with UUM and he was also very pleased to know that the Vice-Chancellor of UUM is the alumnus of the University of Leeds.
UUM delegation along with UUM Adjunct Professor, Tan Sri Munir Majid who is a fellow at LSE, visited the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). They were given a warm welcome by Prof. Tim Forsyth and Prof. Dany Quah, who then conducted a discussion concerning the Executive M.Sc. in Public Policy programme, a tailor-made UUM-LSE programme which will see UUM as the feeder for the Malaysian and South East Asian market.
Tan Sri Munir has also proposed that the launching ceremony for the programme concurred with the ASEAN Summit scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in November.
