UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak expressed his delight as well as pride over the achievement and was thankful that the strategic plans devised have begun to yield the expected results.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the announcement of UUM successful attainment of the ABEST21 accreditation was announced by ABEST21 President, Dr. Fumio Itoh in Tokyo, Japan on March 5 after the approval of the ABEST21 Board of Trustees.
"Certificate of recognition will be awarded during a ceremony celebrating ABEST21 10th Anniversary scheduled to take place in July in Tokyo, Japan."

He also reiterated that with this accreditation, OYAGSB can confidently stride further forward as a leading business school in the region.
In addition, OYAGSB is expecting a few more accreditations coming its way in the near future, these achievements are attributed to the meticulous planning by UUM.
Established in 2005 with its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, ABEST21 is an international accreditation body for business schools at universities that offer postgraduate programmes in the field of Business.
Among the international universities that have received similar recognition are Waseda Business School, Graduate School of Commerce, Waseda University, Japan; School of Business and Management, Bandung Technology Institute, Indonesia and SP Jain School of Global Management Pte. Ltd., Singapore.
Meanwhile, the Dean of OYAGSB, Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Ismail said the accreditation process involves rigorous internal review, evaluation, as well as adjustment and takes up almost two years to fulfil the 18 criteria set in the field.
He said among the criteria to be fulfilled in the field is the quality of teaching, students and academic staff, facilities and relationships with alumni.
He added that business schools that receive such recognition must go through a process of 'Peer Review' every five years to ensure their accreditation is maintained.
